About Me

My love for baking started when I was young; I can remember baking fairy cakes in my Nan's kitchen, sitting on the worktop in my Noddy apron and being allowed to lick the spoons afterwards!  For my 11th birthday,  I received a stand mixer (an odd present for an 11 year old who had asked for a rabbit!) and continued to bake and try new recipes throughout the next few years.

After graduating with a Psychology degree, travelling for a while and working several part time jobs,  I was unsure what I wanted to do with my future. One day I made a rainbow cake  and then got asked to make another one for a 1st birthday a few weeks later. A few months later my Uncle then asked me to make a Halloween themed cake for my Cousin's birthday and encouraged me to set up a Facebook business page.... 'Cakes by Lauren' was born and I started baking for family & friends' birthdays and special occasions. I then registered and insured my business, got a logo and business cards, started taking orders and have since lost count of how many cakes I have made and all the amazing customers I have met along the way!

In August 2018, I made cakes my full time job, a scary but super exciting time and one of the best decisions I have ever made! I love being able to create something to help make a special event even more memorable and really enjoy the creative side of making cakes. I always get asked what my favourite cakes to make are and the answer really is all of them! 

 

I am so excited to see what the future holds for my business and want to thank everyone who has supported me so far in my cake journey!
